Housing is the foundation for what comes next.

Across the Western United States, rising housing costs are pricing families and essential workers out of the communities they call home, while older adults face a growing need for housing that supports how they want to live and age. Mana Hale works through mission-driven partnerships to advance affordable housing and senior living communities—bringing together community needs, financing, development, operations and long-term stewardship. Because the right housing strengthens health, stability and quality of life across generations.

Affordable Housing

We help create and preserve quality housing for low- and moderate-income households, including essential workers and families. Our approach prioritizes long-term affordability, practical design, community connection and access to the services and opportunities people depend on.

Senior Living

We help create, preserve and revitalize communities that support older adults through different stages of aging. Working with qualified operating and service partners, these communities can support independence, aging in place and changing care needs over time.

Grants

Grants and philanthropic capital can be important parts of the broader partnerships needed to advance affordable and senior housing. Mana Hale is developing this area of work and will share more information as its grant strategy takes shape.

Featured Work

Merrill Gardens at Studio City

Mana Hale is participating in Merrill Gardens at Studio City, an active senior housing project in Los Angeles that combines independent living and licensed assisted living with shared amenities and resident services.

The planned community includes a five-story assisted living building and a three-story independent living building connected by shared common areas, with landscaped rooftop decks, a fitness center, salon, subterranean parking and pedestrian connections to transit and neighborhood services.

The project is planned to provide six income-restricted units, evenly divided between low- and moderate-income seniors, along with a publicly accessible pocket park near the Los Angeles River, pedestrian safety improvements along Ventura Boulevard and permanent healthcare and hospitality jobs.

Residents will have access to transportation, 24-hour staffing in assisted living, wellness programs, dining and nutritional guidance, medication management and assistance with activities of daily living. Mana Hale will also support additional resident services and potential rental-assistance programs.
